Auckland’s eagerly anticipated Surf Park, currently under construction in Dairy Flat, is progressing rapidly and offers an exciting preview for local residents. The project, located just off Dairy Flat Highway, is set to transform the area into a premier surfing and leisure destination.
Coasties are invited to attend the Auckland Surf Park Open Day on Saturday, May 3, from 9 a.m. to noon. The event will offer the community an opportunity to see the project’s ongoing developments firsthand and learn more about the vision for this innovative facility.
Project ambassador Sir John Kirwan will be in attendance, along with the Aventuur team, to provide insights and answer any questions attendees may have. Visitors can access the site via parking at the southern end of the development, located at 1350 Dairy Flat Highway.
The first stage of the Auckland Surf Park is rapidly taking shape and will feature a world-class surfing lagoon. In addition to the lagoon, the park will include high-performance sports facilities, leisure amenities, and a range of recreational options.
One of the unique features of the park is its 7-hectare solar farm, which will help power the site and contribute to sustainability efforts. The solar energy will also be used to maintain the lagoon’s temperature, enhancing the overall experience for visitors.
Future plans for the park include a wellness centre, retail spaces, eco-cabins, and walking and cycling trails, offering a variety of attractions for both locals and tourists. Set to open in 2027, the Auckland Surf Park will be New Zealand’s first world-class surfing lagoon, adding a significant tourism draw to the Hibiscus Coast.
The development is expected to provide both recreational opportunities and employment for the community, making it a valuable addition to the area.
