Kelly Slater’s son may not be riding waves just yet, but he’s already making his mark in the world of surf — quite literally.
In a heartwarming moment shared by Slater’s longtime partner, Kalani Miller, on social media, the couple’s young son was seen decorating a brand-new surfboard in celebration of both Father’s Day and International Surfing Day.
“Happy International Surf Day!” Miller wrote on Instagram, captioning a video of their child applying colorful footprints to a pristine Firewire surfboard. “Seems appropriate to get a new board for it! (This was actually last week for Father’s Day!) We grew up in a house with endless arts and crafts, paints and goop, beads and sewing. It was fun to make a little mess for this Father’s Day present for Kelly.”
The video quickly garnered attention for its charm and creativity, showing a playful and artistic bonding moment between father and son.
While the touching scene leans more toward art than athleticism, fans of the 11-time world champion need not worry — according to Miller, their son is already enrolled in swimming lessons. Surfing may not be far behind.
With talent in his genes and the beach as his backyard, the next generation of Slater could be paddling into lineups sooner than expected.
