Griffin Colapinto’s Perfect 10 Air Stuns at Margaret River Pro

by Allen

Griffin Colapinto delivered a jaw-dropping performance in the Quarterfinals of the Margaret River Pro, earning a perfect 10-point score for an aerial maneuver that has captivated the surfing world.

While televised surf competitions often struggle to fully capture the scale and complexity of waves and tricks—due to their flat, two-dimensional perspectives—Colapinto’s 360-degree aerial stood out as an exceptional display of skill and athleticism. Among multiple camera angles, a drone shot uniquely showcased the immense height and distance of his maneuver, revealing the impressive gap he cleared before landing well ahead of the wave’s breaking section.

Upon exiting the water, Colapinto was immediately shown the drone footage and responded with awe, calling the moment “one of the most incredible moments of my life” during a post-heat interview. In a more candid exchange, he described it even more emphatically: “I think that was the best f**king moment of my career right there.”

Currently ranked 11th in the World Surf League standings, Colapinto faces a challenging path to reach the season’s top five ahead of the upcoming Cloudbreak event. Notable competitors—including Jack Robinson, Filipe Toledo, and Ethan Ewing—stand between him and the coveted fifth position. Nevertheless, Colapinto’s runner-up finish at Margaret River Pro—the best result of his season so far—boosts his prospects.

With a track record of at least one contest win each year over the past three seasons (two wins in 2022, one in 2023, and two in 2024), Colapinto remains a strong contender for the world title as the season progresses.
