This weekend, Victoria’s Surf Coast will host two major surfing events — the Victorian Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP) Surfing Titles and the Victorian Masters Titles — both pivotal competitions for athletes vying for selection in the Victorian State Teams.
The SUP and Masters titles serve as key selection trials for teams competing later this year, with the SUP squad heading to Phillip Island and the Masters team preparing for competition in Wollongong.
The Victorian SUP Titles will take place on Saturday at Point Impossible, featuring over 50 elite SUP surfers from across the state. Among the standout competitors are multiple Open State Champion Matt Takle of Jan Juc, as well as Australian champions Lucy Bell from Sandringham and Emma Webb from Jan Juc. The event is set to highlight some of the best SUP surfing talent in Australia at one of the nation’s premier SUP locations.
On Sunday, the Victorian Masters Titles will be held at Jan Juc, bringing together more than 40 veteran surfers who have been instrumental in shaping Victoria’s surfing community. This year’s Masters competition introduces an Over 30 division following changes at the national level, while the previous Over 45 division has been discontinued.
Both events commence early, with first calls scheduled for 7:15 a.m. and heats beginning at 7:30 a.m. on their respective days.
