A flagship event on the Surfing WA calendar, the Championships attract a diverse field of competitors spanning 13 divisions, from Under-18 Juniors to Over-70 Grand Legends. This year’s event not only crowns state champions but also offers surfers a pathway to the prestigious Australian Longboard Titles, scheduled later this year in Tweed, New South Wales.
Surfers will converge from across the state, ranging from the northern reaches of Exmouth to the southern shores of Esperance, all vying for state titles and spots on the Western Australian team. Among the favorites returning is 2023 Open Men’s champion Jack Medland of Dunsborough, who faces stiff competition from former State Champion Ryan Clark (Dunsborough), alongside Scott Trew (Gabbadah) and Evan Ledger (Yallingup), all contenders for the 2025 title.
The Open Women’s division is expected to draw significant attention, with Maddie Barrett of Cottesloe aiming to secure back-to-back titles.
